Tips From Norm's

Prevent Future Problems. Save Money. Save Time.

  • WHERE IS YOUR HOT WATER SHUT OFF? We can't stress this enough: If you don't know where your hot water shut off valve is, find out! This can save you a great deal of money, time and discomfort if something goes wrong with your system in the future. If you don't know where your hot water shut off valve is, call and we'll do our best to tell you over the phone. No Charge!

  • KNOW WHERE YOU GAS SHUT-OFF VALVE IS: Take a few minutes to determine where your Gas Shut Off valve is located. If you don't know, call us and we'll do our best to tell you over the phone without charge.

  • SAVING WATER = SAVING MONEY: Low flow toilets and low flow shower heads don't cost very much and the savings add up quickly. They're also good for your community.

  • CHECK YOUR WATER HEATER: The average life expectancy of a hot water heater is ten years. If you don't know how old your unit is, give us a call and we'll tell you over the phone. No charge.

  • CHECK YOUR HOT WATER THERMOSTAT:  You can reduce your heating cost by one percent for every degree you lower your water heater thermostat. The standard factory setting for hot water tanks is 140 degrees. Norm's recommends you lower your temperature to 130 degrees if you have small children or elderly in your home. If you don’t know how to check your tank’s temperature, give us a call and we’ll walk you through it over the phone without charge.

  • ARE YOUR PIPES MAKING TOO MUCH NOISE? Check your water pressure. If you don`t know how, give us a call and we'll tell you over the phone. No charge.

  • CHECK WASHING MACHINE HOSES EVERY YEAR FOR BULGES. Over the years your hose will slowly deteriorate and eventually wear out. A burst hose can result in a costly flood. A regular inspection and installation of a reinforced washer hose is inexpensive insurance and provides peace of mind. Additionally Norm's recommends all supplies to toilets and taps be updated with new stainless braided supplies. The older poly and copper supplies can leak and blow apart causing major floods.
