Burst pipes
What do I do about a burst pipe?
Shut off the main water valve, then call. Open a tap at the lowest point in the house to drain what's left in the pipes. Move anything valuable away from the water and keep the area clear for the plumber.
Water and sewer
Is your Lantzville home on well water or septic?
Many are. District water comes mainly from the District's own groundwater wells, and under a 2018 agreement the upper pressure zone gets City of Nanaimo water. Sewer Phases I and II are complete, but many properties still use septic systems. On a well and septic there's no municipal crew to call, so your main valve is the first line. Know where it is before you need it.
After the emergency
What happens after the leak is stopped?
The plumber explains what failed and the options, with prices, before any repair. The repair is covered by our no-hassle warranty.
Permits
Who issues permits for emergency repairs in Lantzville?
It depends on the job, and in Lantzville the local rules come from the District of Lantzville. Lantzville Building Bylaw No. 182, 2020 (section 2.4) says a building permit is not required for plumbing systems and fixtures; the District posts a separate Plumbing Declaration form. Rebate and permit details checked October 21, 2026. Programs change, so we confirm at your quote.
Leaking tank
My hot water tank is leaking. What do I do?
Shut the cold supply valve on top of the tank. A stamp on top shows which pipe is the cold one. We keep Bradford White tanks in stock for after-hours replacements.
