24/7 emergency plumbing in Qualicum Beach
Burst pipe, backup or a leaking tank in Qualicum Beach? Here's what to do right now, and who to call.
Emergency plumbing in Qualicum Beach
Is there a 24/7 emergency plumber for Qualicum Beach?
Yes. We pick up any hour, holidays included, and a plumber is always on call. You'll get a time on the phone, not a voicemail. Qualicum Beach lies along the Strait of Georgia on Vancouver Island's northeastern coast, in the shadow of Mount Arrowsmith. Qualicum Beach falls under the Town of Qualicum Beach. We cover Qualicum Beach along with nearby Parksville and Errington. We work out of our shop at 1940 Boxwood Road in Nanaimo.
While you wait for the plumber
- Close the main water valve
- Move valuables away from the water
- Shut the cold supply valve on a leaking tank
- Turn off power to an electric tank that's leaking
Not sure where the main valve is? Tell us on the phone and we'll help you find it.

Where is my main water shut-off?
Look where the water line enters the house: a utility room, crawl space or near the tank. Turn it clockwise to close it. If you can't find it or it won't turn, tell us on the phone.
Water and sewer
Is the water line to my Qualicum Beach home mine or the municipality's?
Town water is groundwater from the River and Berwick well fields, disinfected with UV and chlorine. The Town runs its own sanitary sewer system. Usually the municipality looks after the main and the line up to the property, and the homeowner looks after the rest. Check with the Town of Qualicum Beach for your street. Anything on your side, Norm's can repair.
Gas smell
What if I smell gas?
Leave the house first. Then call FortisBC at 1-800-663-9911 from outside. Once it's safe, our licensed gas fitters can repair the line or appliance.
Permits
Who issues permits for emergency repairs in Qualicum Beach?
Sometimes. The Town of Qualicum Beach sets the local permit rules for Qualicum Beach. In Qualicum Beach, installing or altering plumbing within a building needs a building permit, using the Town's combined building, plumbing and renovation application; certified plumbers file a Plumbing Test Certificate. Rebate and permit details checked October 21, 2026. Programs change, so we confirm at your quote.
Leaking tank
My hot water tank is leaking. What do I do?
Shut the cold supply valve on top of the tank. If you can't tell which pipe is cold, shut the main water valve instead. A tank leaking from the body can't be patched, so the plumber comes ready to replace it, and we keep tanks stocked after hours.

Such a quick response to my personal crisis - very professional and helpful and knowledgeable. My hot water tank stopped heating and started leaking, they came same day and replaced it. Very much appreciated.
