Heat pump service in Ladysmith

Where can I get a heat pump tune-up in Ladysmith?

From Norm's. We do yearly maintenance on the system you already have and repairs when something fails. The work is backed by our no-hassle warranty. Ladysmith is a seaside town 23 kilometres south of Nanaimo and 88 kilometres north of Victoria. Ladysmith falls under the Town of Ladysmith. We work out of our shop at 1940 Boxwood Road in Nanaimo.

Book a visit if you notice

  • Water pooling near the indoor unit
  • Lukewarm air when it should be heating or cooling
  • Energy bills climbing for no clear reason
  • Rooms that never reach the set temperature

Turn it off if it's iced solid or tripping the breaker. Running it harder can turn a small fault into a big one.

Ice and frost

Why is my heat pump covered in ice?

Light frost is normal in winter. The system melts it off with a defrost cycle. If the ice stays, the usual causes are poor airflow, a fan on its way out or a refrigerant leak. Keep about 60 cm clear around the outdoor unit so the fan can move air.

Permits

Who issues permits for heat pump repairs in Ladysmith?

It depends on the job, and in Ladysmith the local rules come from the Town of Ladysmith. The Town of Ladysmith Development Services office issues building permits (building@ladysmith.ca, 250 245 6400); starting work before a permit doubles the fee. The gas side is separate: it goes through Technical Safety BC, and our gas fitters work under Norm's licence LGA000404. Rebate and permit details checked October 21, 2026. Programs change, so we confirm at your quote.

Rebates

What rebates can Ladysmith homeowners get for a heat pump?

It depends on what heats the house now and on your household, so our rebate team checks before anything is booked. Ladysmith homes may also qualify for a local top-up. We confirm current amounts at your quote. Programs need a registered contractor and some need pre-approval, and Financeit can spread the rest into monthly payments. Honest advice

Is my old heat pump worth fixing?

Often, yes. A young system with one failed part is almost always worth repairing. Past about 12 years, after back to back repairs, or on old R-22 refrigerant, replacing it usually adds up better. If it is time, our rebate team checks what a new system qualifies for first.

Gas or electric

Is natural gas available in Ladysmith?

FortisBC serves much of the Mid-Island, and whether gas reaches a home depends on the street, so we check your address at the quote. If you have gas, the heat pump may be part of a dual fuel system, and we service the furnace side too.

What customers say about our heat pump service

★★★★★
Very professional, excellent communicators and a very positive experience for us. We got two heat pumps and they sent two teams so they could complete the project faster for us. We would suggest them to others and will be purchasing more heat pump systems in the future from them.

Had Norms come out to inspect and perform maintenance on our heat pump and furnace. He was professional and friendly when my three year old granddaughter was asking questions. Received my report explaining everything that was completed and things that need attention. Great experience as always.
