Plumbing in Qualicum Beach
What plumbing work can you do in Qualicum Beach?
Most of it, under one roof. Leaks, clogs, tanks, Poly-B, water lines and renovations, plus gas fitting and heating. If a line has to be dug up, our own excavation crew handles it. Qualicum Beach lies along the Strait of Georgia on Vancouver Island's northeastern coast, in the shadow of Mount Arrowsmith. Homes here come under the Town of Qualicum Beach. We cover Qualicum Beach along with nearby Parksville and Errington. We work out of our shop at 1940 Boxwood Road in Nanaimo.
Signs it's time to call a plumber
- A toilet that runs or rocks
- Drains that keep clogging
- Blue-grey plastic pipe near the tank
- Wet spots on the lawn
Small leaks grow. Getting them looked at early is cheaper than drying out a floor.

Permits
Do I need a permit for plumbing work in Qualicum Beach?
Sometimes. The Town of Qualicum Beach sets the local permit rules for Qualicum Beach. In Qualicum Beach, installing or altering plumbing within a building needs a building permit, using the Town's combined building, plumbing and renovation application; certified plumbers file a Plumbing Test Certificate. Rebate and permit details checked October 21, 2026. Programs change, so we confirm at your quote.
Buying a home
Can you inspect the plumbing before I buy a home?
Yes. We do plumbing and heating inspections and drain camera inspections for home purchases and sales.
Water and sewer
Is the water line to my Qualicum Beach home mine or the municipality's?
Town water is groundwater from the River and Berwick well fields, disinfected with UV and chlorine. The Town runs its own sanitary sewer system. Usually the municipality looks after the main and the line up to the property, and the homeowner looks after the rest. Check with the Town of Qualicum Beach for your street. Leaks, breaks and clogs on your side are work for our plumbers.
Poly-B
Does my home have Poly-B piping?
If it was built between 1978 and 1995, there's a good chance. It's a blue-grey plastic that cracks from the inside, usually at the fittings. We've replaced Poly-B with PEX for over 20 years, usually in 1 to 3 days, with drywall repair and paint handled.
