Drain cleaning in Qualicum Beach
Why does my drain in Qualicum Beach keep clogging?
Grease, hair, soap, food waste and roots are the usual causes. If only the first few feet get cleared, the clog grows back. When a clog keeps returning, we put a camera down the line instead of guessing. Qualicum Beach lies along the Strait of Georgia on Vancouver Island's northeastern coast, in the shadow of Mount Arrowsmith. Qualicum Beach falls under the Town of Qualicum Beach. We cover Qualicum Beach along with nearby Parksville and Errington. The crew comes out from our Nanaimo shop on Boxwood Road.
When to call instead of plunging
- Water coming up a floor drain
- The same drain clogs again within weeks
- The plunger hasn't worked
- More than one drain is slow
Skip the chemical drain cleaners. They can corrode pipes and sit in the line if they don't clear it.

Can I clear a clogged drain myself?
Small clogs, yes. A plunger, hot water from the kettle, or half a cup of baking soda then half a cup of vinegar can shift a minor clog. What we don't recommend is chemical drain cleaners: they can corrode pipes.
Water and sewer
Who looks after the water and sewer lines in Qualicum Beach?
Town water is groundwater from the River and Berwick well fields, disinfected with UV and chlorine. The Town runs its own sanitary sewer system. Usually the municipality looks after the main and the line up to the property, and the homeowner looks after the rest. Check with the Town of Qualicum Beach for your street. Leaks, breaks and clogs on your side are work for our plumbers.
Toilets
What should I do when my toilet is clogged?
Stop flushing. A plunger clears many simple clogs. If it doesn't, or it clogs often, call us. Wipes are a big cause, even the flushable kind: they don't break down like toilet paper.
Permits
Do I need a permit for sewer or drain line repairs in Qualicum Beach?
It depends on the job, and in Qualicum Beach the local rules come from the Town of Qualicum Beach. In Qualicum Beach, installing or altering plumbing within a building needs a building permit, using the Town's combined building, plumbing and renovation application; certified plumbers file a Plumbing Test Certificate. Rebate and permit details checked October 21, 2026. Programs change, so we confirm at your quote.
Roots
Can tree roots block my drain?
Yes. We cut roots out of the line and check with a camera whether the pipe needs repair. A damaged sewer line can be dug and repaired by our own crew.

What customers say about our drain work
Devon was wonderful. Basically he was here to give me some advice and it was well worth the cost to get his expertise on running a second garden tap and shortening a sewer clean out.
I found Norms Plumbing very reasonable priced, and Oliver who was my plumber was professional, efficient and worked so hard working out all the obstacles he had to endure with a very stubborn bathtub drain, so grateful. Ty for the great service!
