Furnace service in Cassidy

Who repairs furnaces in Cassidy?

Norm's does. We fix gas, oil and electric furnaces of every make, whoever installed them. Most visits are tune-ups and repairs, and we install new furnaces when a repair stops making sense. Cassidy is one of the three core communities of RDN Electoral Area A, south of the City of Nanaimo, with the highest density of any RDN Electoral Area village centre. Homes here come under the Regional District of Nanaimo, Electoral Area A. Our crews work in Cassidy and nearby Cedar. The crew comes out from our Nanaimo shop on Boxwood Road.

Signs your furnace needs a repair

  • A yellow or lazy flame instead of crisp blue
  • Running nonstop, or turning on and off every few minutes
  • Banging, grinding or squealing
  • No heat, or not enough heat

A yellow flame can mean the furnace isn't burning cleanly. Turn it off and call us. If you smell gas, go outside and call 911 or FortisBC at 1-800-663-9911.

How it works

From a cold house to heat back on.

  1. Call

Tell us what the furnace is doing. We answer 24/7.

  2. Find the cause

A technician checks the furnace from the thermostat to the burner.

  3. Price first

You get the repair and the price before any work starts.

  4. Test and go

We fix it, test it and make sure it runs safely before we leave.

Tune-up timing

When should I book a furnace tune-up?

In late summer or early fall, before the cold sets in. The first cold stretch is when a worn part gives out, after months of sitting still. A tune-up first means the part gets caught on your schedule.

Permits

Who issues permits for furnace work in Cassidy?

Sometimes. The Regional District of Nanaimo, Electoral Area A sets the local permit rules for Cassidy. Building permits in the RDN Electoral Areas are issued by the Regional District of Nanaimo Building and Bylaw Services. Any gas work is permitted through Technical Safety BC, under a licensed gas contractor like Norm's (licence LGA000404). Rebate and permit details checked October 21, 2026. Programs change, so we confirm at your quote.

Safety

Is a yellow furnace flame dangerous?

It can be. A yellow or lazy flame instead of a crisp blue one can mean the furnace isn't burning cleanly. Turn it off and call us. If you smell gas, go outside and call 911 or FortisBC at 1-800-663-9911.

Rebates

Could a heat pump rebate beat a new furnace in Cassidy?

Rebates lean toward heat pumps, so a furnace replacement is worth pricing both ways. Cassidy homes may also qualify for a local top-up. We confirm current amounts at your quote. Programs need a registered contractor and some need pre-approval, and Financeit can spread the rest into monthly payments. Rebate and permit details checked October 21, 2026.
