Plumbing in Cassidy

What plumbing work can you do in Cassidy?

Most of it, under one roof. Drains, hot water, Poly-B replacement, water mains, toilets, faucets and bathroom renovations. When a job needs digging, our own excavation crew does it. Cassidy is one of the three core communities of RDN Electoral Area A, south of the City of Nanaimo, with the highest density of any RDN Electoral Area village centre. Homes here come under the Regional District of Nanaimo, Electoral Area A. We cover Cassidy along with nearby Cedar. We work out of our shop at 1940 Boxwood Road in Nanaimo.

Signs it's time to call a plumber

  • Blue-grey plastic pipe near the tank
  • A toilet that runs or rocks
  • A water bill higher than it should be
  • Low water pressure that won't come back

Small leaks grow. Getting them looked at early is cheaper than drying out a floor.

Permits

Who issues permits for plumbing work in Cassidy?

It depends on the job, and in Cassidy the local rules come from the Regional District of Nanaimo, Electoral Area A. The RDN Building Regulations Bylaw No. 1250 lists a Plumbing Permit among the permits it issues and counts plumbing inside a building as part of the building. Rebate and permit details checked October 21, 2026. Programs change, so we confirm at your quote.

Water lines

How do I know if my water line is leaking?

Wet spots on the lawn, low pressure or a high water bill can point to a leaking water line. We can test for it at the meter, and our own excavation crew digs and replaces the line if needed.

Water main replacement

Water and sewer

Well water or septic in Cassidy? What changes

Cassidy has no RDN community water or sewer service; most residents draw drinking water from the upper Cassidy aquifer, which the RDN plan calls highly vulnerable to surface contamination. Private domestic wells in RDN Electoral Areas A, B, C, E, F, G and H qualify for the RDN Well Water Testing Rebate. On a private well there's no municipal shut-off at the street, so know where your main valve is. With septic, what goes down the drain matters more: keep grease and wipes out of it.

Pricing

Will I know the price before the plumber starts?

Yes. You get the options and the price before any work, with no hidden costs. If we find something extra, we show you and price it before we do it.
