Plumbing in Cedar
Does Norm's do plumbing in Cedar?
Yes. We handle everyday repairs and bigger jobs alike: faucets, toilets, drains, tanks and water lines. The work is covered by our no-hassle warranty. Cedar is one of the three core communities of RDN Electoral Area A, an area bordered by the City of Nanaimo to the north and the Strait of Georgia to the east. Homes here come under the Regional District of Nanaimo, Electoral Area A. We cover Cedar along with nearby Cassidy. The crew comes out from our Nanaimo shop on Boxwood Road.
Signs it's time to call a plumber
- Wet spots on the lawn
- Blue-grey plastic pipe near the tank
- A water bill higher than it should be
- A toilet that runs or rocks
Small leaks grow. Getting them looked at early is cheaper than drying out a floor.

Do you do mobile home plumbing?
Yes. We've worked on mobile homes around Nanaimo for decades, plumbing and heating both.
Permits
Who issues permits for plumbing work in Cedar?
Sometimes. The Regional District of Nanaimo, Electoral Area A sets the local permit rules for Cedar. The RDN Building Regulations Bylaw No. 1250 lists a Plumbing Permit among the permits it issues and counts plumbing inside a building as part of the building. Rebate and permit details checked October 21, 2026. Programs change, so we confirm at your quote.
Fixtures
Do you install toilets, faucets and showers?
Yes. Toilets, faucets and complete bathroom renovations are all part of our plumbing work. We can also add a tankless water heater while we're there.
Water and sewer
Is your Cedar home on well water or septic?
Many are. The RDN Cedar sewer service area covers the Cedar town core on parts of MacMillan Road and Cedar Road, treated at the Duke Point Pollution Control Centre. The North Cedar Improvement District supplies water from aquifer 161. Private domestic wells in RDN Electoral Areas A, B, C, E, F, G and H qualify for the RDN Well Water Testing Rebate. On a private well there's no municipal shut-off at the street, so know where your main valve is. With septic, what goes down the drain matters more: keep grease and wipes out of it.

Drains
Why do my drains keep clogging?
Grease, hair, soap and roots are behind most repeat clogs. We clear the drain all the way through, and use a camera when a clog keeps coming back.
