1. What’s your name and job title at Norm’s?
My name is Greg, Plumbing Service Manager – Journeyman plumber, pipefitter, gas fitter.
2. How long have you been working in the trades? How long at Norm’s?
I have been working in the plumbing trade for 19 years. I joined the Norm’s team in 2022.
3. What inspired you to get into plumbing/HVAC/your trade?
A family friend down the street where I grew up helped me get into the trade, initially as a laborer delivering material to different sites on Vancouver Island. After 3 months of delivering, helping manual labour tasks on job sites, I was eventually offered an apprenticeship in Plumbing.
4. What do you enjoy most about your job or working at Norm’s?
Being part of such a close, supportive team, helping customers and finding creative solutions to unique problems. Having fun every day.
5. What’s one thing you’re proud of in your career so far?
Attaining multiple interprovincial red seal certification in different branches of the trade. Including specialized training in medical gas installations on hospital projects.
6. What’s your approach when working in a customer’s home?
I always think of a customers home as my grandparent’s home. Respect, appreciation, and care.
7. What do you like to do when you’re not working?
When not working I enjoy spending quality time with my family. Camping, hiking, and backpacking. Cooking, and smoking meats.
8. Anything else you’d like people to know about you?
You may find me behind the griddle attempting to flip massive pancakes, grilling burgers, or cheering on young and young-at-heart riders at the Marie Davidson Nanaimo BMX track. Where my son started racing 10 years ago. I raced in the cruiser class with other Dads for a while before trading handlebars for spatulas.
